From student to consultant
Emile’s journey through the Spotit Academy
Some careers don’t just begin — they evolve, transform, and inspire others along the way.
When Emile joined the third edition of the Spotit Academy several years ago, he was a fresh graduate with a strong interest in cybersecurity. He didn’t know exactly where he’d land, but he knew one thing: he wanted to grow.
And grow he did.
The start of a journey
“I joined the academy not knowing what to expect,” Emile says. “But I was curious, motivated, and eager to learn.”
He found his passion in the spotit SOC (Security Operations Center). Handling threats, analyzing incidents, hardening security gaps — it all made sense. With strong coaching and hands-on lab work, Emile not only developed his technical skills, but also his confidence and professional mindset.
Within months, he became a permanent member of the spotit SOC team.
Giving back: from trainee to coach
As the academy continued year after year, Emile stepped into a new role — that of a Spotit Academy Coach.
“I knew what it felt like to be in their shoes. I remembered the struggles, the excitement, the steep learning curve,” he says. “That made it a perfect stepping stone to guide others.”
Over several editions, Emile helped shape the academy content, especially in the SOC track. He led training sessions and practical workshops, coached and evaluated participants, and encouraged them to explore, question, and grow.
He became a trusted mentor — not just for his technical expertise, but for his ability to connect, inspire and support.
“Watching participants graduate and shape into confident professionals… that’s incredibly rewarding.”
Passing the torch
This year, Emile is taking on new challenges within his role as SOC Analyst. That also means stepping back from his academy role and handing over the torch to a new generation of coaches.
“It’s time,” he says with a smile. “I’m excited for what’s next, but I’ll always carry that academy spirit with me. I’ve seen what it can do — not just for participants, but for the entire team.”
His legacy is clear: a new wave of academy mentors inspired by his story, and a group of young professionals who, like him, took their first steps at spotit — and never looked back.
A culture of growth
Emile’s journey from student to consultant isn’t unique at spotit — but it is symbolic. It reflects a culture of growth, where potential is nurtured, experience is shared, and success is passed on.
