Growth at spotit
Direction without fixed paths
In an industry that evolves constantly, knowledge is never static. Technologies shift, customer environments become more complex, and expectations continue to rise. In this context, building expertise is not enough. It needs to evolve continuously.
At spotit, we therefore don’t start from fixed career tracks, but from a clear belief: growth should adapt to people, technology, and context. Not everyone develops in the same way, at the same pace, or toward the same role. And that is exactly where the strength lies.
We don’t work with one-size-fits-all trajectories. We build growth paths that are tailored and aligned with ambition, strengths, and the realities of the customer environments our people work in.
Certifications as part of a broader growth story
Certifications play an important role in that journey, but never as an end goal in themselves.
They are a way to structure knowledge, deepen expertise, and validate skills, embedded in a broader learning process that always starts from real-world experience.
Today, spotit counts:
more than 140 certifications across the entire team
spread across 70+ different certification tracks
covering a wide and diverse mix of technologies and domains
What stands out is not individual outliers, but the breadth of expertise. Certification is not an exception. It is a recurring part of how our teams grow.
A shared foundation, with room for specialisation
The foundation of that growth is widely shared across the organisation.
Core technical certifications such as Cisco CCNA (16 professionals) and ITIL Foundation (13 professionals) reflect a common baseline within the team. The same applies to foundational cloud and security certifications such as Azure Fundamentals and CompTIA Security+, held by multiple colleagues.
From this foundation, different directions naturally emerge.
Growing in depth: cloud, networking & security
A significant part of our certification culture is rooted in cloud and security expertise, with a strong focus on Microsoft and enterprise environments.
Within the Microsoft security ecosystem alone, we see strong adoption of advanced certifications such as:
Cybersecurity Architect Expert (SC-100)
Security Operations Analyst (SC-200)
Identity & Access Administrator (SC-300)
Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500)
This is complemented by deep networking and infrastructure expertise through Cisco enterprise and security tracks, alongside a strong vendor diversity including Palo Alto Networks, F5, Fortinet, and Cato Networks.
Importantly, these certifications never exist in isolation. They build on each other, reinforce one another, and are applied in real customer environments.
From foundation to specialisation
Beyond the broad baseline, there is also clear room for deep specialisation, often in highly advanced domains such as security engineering, architecture, and offensive security.
Examples include:
CISSP and CISM at governance and leadership level
OSCP, OSWE, and OSEP in offensive security
Red teaming tracks such as CRTP, CRTE, and CRTM
Advanced Cisco and Palo Alto certifications in architecture and design
This combination reveals an important pattern: growth at spotit is not linear, but progressive and layered. People build further on their strengths and interests, moving toward greater complexity, responsibility, or specialisation.
What we expect from that journey
Freedom in growth does not mean a lack of commitment. On the contrary: development requires discipline, ownership, and a continuous willingness to learn. Certifications are not assigned. They are actively pursued and supported.
Studying, practicing, and applying knowledge are a structural part of the job.
What you get in return
In exchange, you don’t get a theoretical career path, but an environment where growth becomes real:
guidance from experienced colleagues
opportunities to apply knowledge in real customer environments
support in achieving certifications
and the chance to take on responsibility as expertise grows
Growth in practice
Several colleagues have built their careers by combining technical deepening with hands-on experience in complex environments. Some have progressed into more architectural roles, others into specialised security tracks or leadership roles within projects.
One example of that growth journey can be found within our NOC team.
After graduating from college, Hannes joined spotit through the Academy program, where he first focused on building a strong technical foundation through certifications such as ITIL, CCNA, and PSE. From there, that expertise continued to evolve within the NOC environment through more advanced tracks including CCNP, PCNSA, and PCNSE.
For him, certifications were never just about passing exams.
They provided the confidence to approach complex customer challenges on a daily basis and helped strengthen the trust customers place in our teams. At the same time, growth was never limited to a predefined path. The freedom to explore personal interests, combined with support through training, study time, and knowledge sharing between colleagues, created an environment where development happens continuously, both technically and professionally.
What stands out most in his experience is the combination of challenging customer environments and collaboration within the team. New technologies, shared expertise, and hands-on learning opportunities continue to drive that growth forward every day.
